There was a time i saw this line, "Tough times don't last, but tough man does". This phrase has been on my mind these past few days and this can be a measure of how tiring and mentally draining routine i have been put through. I used to dislike this but i do appreciate it now. I feel much better after the tough work. It seems like i have grown to understand the world better.
Then, I understood that personal responibility is important. This character may not be that clearly emphasized when one is young. However, when one is, for example, a working adult, this is darn true. When there is a significant mistake, everyone involved will be scrutinising it and looking for the ultimate culprit. To keep it short, do your part correctly and allow no mistakes to bring you down (just in case, there is a major cock-up in your work). Be responsible for your own actions.

CNY Chu Er
I have ended my house-visiting at 2pm today. It was quite boring. For me, i would prefer a packed CNY period where i can get together with my relatives - be it close or distant. So long as i can get to enjoy CNY to the fullest, i will be contented.
CNY Chu Yi (First Day)
It was chu yi yesterday and i went to maternal grandparents' house for breakfast first. There, i watched tv and Winn was funny. There was once when he yelled and i asked him,"shen me shi?" He turned and saw the tv advertisement. He replied,"da xi shi".
Then i went to my paternal grandmother's house. My cousins started playing mahjong. Soon, Han and her family came. Hui sang a CNY song when asked to. By then, i needed to leave for the temple where my grandfather's tablet was.
In no time, we found ourselves in a relatives' house at Bukit Merah. I told my cousins that we were like a group of locusts that went past a crop field. We practically ate more 50% of the available CNY goodies.
Then next stop was Han's house; another distant cousin of mine. We again started eating alot. Soon, i disembarked myself from the main body (consisted mainly the adults). I went to feed the fishes and played with Hui and Xin Yi. Then i suggested to play the swing just outside Han's house. With her suggestion, i tried to reach for the leaves hanging up on the tree. With some energy, i managed to get my foot to touch the leaf with each swing. I even told her how to swing with a different style. Han hung herself on a 'n'-shaped structure. After that, we went back to the house. We raced using some small vehicles and just by turning the steering wheel, the vehicle would move by itself. We raced a total of 3 times and i lost them all. At night, we went back to grandmother's place. I had my mahjong session. Luckily, i only lost $1.80. What's more, we played alot faster.
Han turned her world upside down.

CNY Eve
Yesterday, it was the Chinese New Year Eve and i went out with Grace and Aik Nen. It was such a long time that i did not see Grace. We ate at Soup Spoon before i left for Grandma's house.
At Grandma's house, i ate Buddha jumping over the wall. Even though i was quite full, i carried on. It was a great dish especially when it was filled with abalones. My uncle still joked with me over the dish.
After the meal, i played mahjong with Ping Chie, Boon and Dad. I lost big time. It was a total of $14.80. It was my first time playing with real dollars and i lost like no one's business. haha.

faith rather than love

A laptop crisis
Finally i seem to have settled my mini crisis. This tragedy actually happened yesterday morning. Back then, i was using my laptop, watching tv and at the same time, trying to change SIM card from one handphone to another. In the end, because of my multi-tasking, i accidentally spilled a mug of water on my laptop. It was a disaster as i rushed to dry my keyboard. But it was too late. My keyboard was spoilt and i could not type the certain keys.
I felt very uneasy about it.
Luckily, my laptop was too old already and i was allowed to buy a new one. I bought a new laptop today to use. It seems like i can't live without a laptop.

Reunion Dinner 2009
Yesterday (10 Jan 2009), I had my reunion dinner with my Mummy's family at my grandparents' house. It was a 3minutes walk from my house to theirs. After dinner, i went with Aaron, Boon, Chloe, Tammie to Jurong Lake Park. May Ning, Yan An and Winn came later. At the park, we embarked on a fun trip through all the obstacles. First, Tammie, Chloe and i had spinned ourselves round an obstacle. We thought we could spin out our dinner but we only managed to get dizzy.
Next was the tyres swing and it was the first time that all of us sat on it. I could not get myself started on the swing but with Tammie's help, i was able to.
The entrance
The tyre swing
I climbed up this simple one.
This particular obstacle was made of 3 black mats located near its centre and there were ropes supporting it. So we climbed from all sides to the mats and jumped on it.
May Ning was on the pyramid.
This ring obstacle kept us turning and we took turns spinning it. Sometimes, we sat on the highest point and through the use of gravity, the ring turned. Also, we ran and pushed the ring.
Winn had difficulty pushing the ring with Boon on it.
Fireworks were not to be missed though i considered myself too old for it. However, the fireworks did make the place a better one.
Sparkling night now.
Aaron lighting his fireworks
I think i tried my best opening my eyes.
With some effort, all their names were on the ground and we took pictures.

Aik Nen's Birthday
Today, i went to meet Gerry and Melise at Boon Lay. Apparently, i was late. Quickly, we went to take bus to Jurong Bird Park where Siu Wen, Maureen and Aik Nen, the birthday boy were. Then the 3 of us went to the entrance and waited for them. Secretly, through communication with Maureen, we plotted the route to the surprise spot. Surprise! Melise put the birthday hat on Aik Nen. It was in no time that we went to Jurong Point for a lunch and chit-chat session. During lunch, Aik Nen went to buy dessert. So we took the egg timer present out of Aik Nen's bag and i set it to 7 minutes timing. At the same time, we placed the main present - a perfume into his bag. Melise tried to pretend performing till the timer rang. In the end, the timer rang but it was too soft. So Melise kept performing and told him that the item has been "transported" to his bag. He was so happy about getting the perfume. Luckily, he needed a perfume and it was the perfect gift.
HAPPY BIRTDAY, AIK NEN! He is 20 already although we are born in different years but i am only 1 MONTH older than him. haha.

Friends
"Be friendly to each other and friends will be as usual, friends" - Kwan Chet
Isn't it better to lead a life full of happiness? I will say 'NO!' to all sadness because it can bring my life apart.
Friends are hard to come by. Many so called friends whom i met along the way, only 1 or 2 who can be my life soul. Not any Tom, Dick or Harry can easily be a close friend of mine. Therefore, i must remind myself that close friends are people who care for me. I will not let any small matters dissolve the friendship i have with any of my life souls so easily.

my 2009 countdown
On the very last in the yester-year of 2008, I went for the annual countdown. This time, it was different. Han Xiang, Guan Zhu, Yi Long, Cynthia and i went to Marina but it was the other side of it. I was standing along the expressway facing the high-rise buildings. The view there was clear and more importantly, i could see the fireworks. Under the sky of firework, some were amazed while others were busy snapping shots. For me, i made my wishes with the beatings of the firework and my heart in sync.
