Son Gohan

This is a favourite hero of mine - Son Gohan (孙悟饭).

a puff again - NO thank you!

A box was labelled with the cautions and a picture of an ugly set of teeth tainted with black coloured tars. Still, it did not deter its users. Instead, the habit has seen an increase in females taking it. The trend is growing.

He took out a cigarette from the pack. Lighted, he tried to mimic how his friend smoked. He placed the butt at the lips and took a breath in. The smoke went in with a tinge of mint that tickled the throat. Immediately, he blew out the same smoke and coughed. No, it was not the correct way. So he tried under his friend's advice, to sip in the smoke. Ah, it seemed to work and he controlled it. Just as the newbie thought he learnt to smoke, he coughed out the smoke.

The smoke was about to be anywhere in the body. It was in the mind too. Perhaps, the breathing-in motion was so fast and furious that he could feel 'high' in the mind. It was giddy. The far-reaching consequences are much terrfiying. People bore cancer in any lungs and other body parts.

He finished the one and only stick. It kept him bemused over people hooking up on this uncool, unhealthy and of course expensive habit. A puff again - NO thank you!

Nightlife

It was a friday evening; the most relaxing time of the week. Waiting in the queue for slightly more than 2 hours, they were all dressed up. It must be said that each and every visitor was in his/her best attire. Some waited halfway and left while others persisted. Finally, it was their turn. They did a short transaction at the entrance counter. Blinked, $25 per person was gone and in exchange, they got an entrance stamp and 2 complimentary drink tickets.

They were welcomed with a question from a guy dressed in a black suit as though he was some bodyguard, "Are you ready to go?". With understandable gestures, they were showed the way in. Shortly, a flock of people came in and took the lift with them.

As they left the lift and entered the dark room, they stood in an enclosed area where the DJs were spamming loud, hip-hop music. Everywhere they looked; people were either dancing to the groove or drinking to their fills.Voices were hardly heard.

While queuing at the bar for a drink, a red-faced man signed credits off his card as he paid his bill for another bottle of alcohol. In addition to the free drinks, they even ordered another jug of beer for 5 (priced at least $50). It was little wonder that clubbing was a richman's game.

The music was explosive but never to those whom were high on alcohol. They were enjoying the moments as the effects kicked in. Even if a person who knew nuts about dancing shook his body, he was considered a great dancer. So the cycle of ordering drink and then dancing was repeated for some. Their hard-earned income was diminishing rapidly. The drinks cost greatly but the party-goers who were by then drunk and easily signing bills (without minding the cost), never felt the pinch.

It was simply an eye opener as the party lasted throughout the night till as late as 4am. Perhaps it should be said the outlet was operating till EARLY 4am. It was scary how people splurged just over a night. This was really a rich people's game; an unhealthy one.

Friday Night

Friday - i had a hotpot dinner with secondary school friends. I was crapping. To test the waitress, i held the menu in such a way the waitress could not see the dish names. So I propped a question,"什么是3110?". It was lettuce and she answered it correctly. Thanks to my craps. Next time, i am going to test more waiters/waitresses to see if they really memorised their menu well.

Then i went out with Introvert aka Uncle Wang (Marvin), Ah Neh Neh (Edmund), Lu Dan (Kenneth) and poker face (Eugene). Oh my, i went out with people carrying weird names. They were totally different once inside.

Memory and Sleep

Memory and sleep. There is a certain relationship between them. It is believed that the memory can be improved when one sleeps. For example, students A and B learn a similar topic - matter - in a science lesson. Student A learns and sleeps after the lesson while student B continues to study the topic, despite having a tired mind.

Under this scenario, student A will get a better chance of remembering the content. This is due to the fact when one is asleep, the mind actually has an uninterrupted communication between the neocortex and the hipocampus (the brain's memory systems). Memories are first formed in the hipocampus. In order for memory to be retained, it has to be channeled to neocortex. The neocortex will form a more stable memory and simultaneously, it will form a link to related memories created earlier. Thus the new memory can be more likely remembered.

Sleeping is a way that memory can be better stored and yet the brain can help with organising the newly acquired information orderly. Maybe it is good option to sleep right away after you have finished your exam revision.

May is here

May is here. Honestly, can the time just run faster? Maybe the time should visit the month of December as soon as possible. The happiest month in a year, for me at least.

An act of skiving - story

The teacher asked a group of 3 students - Jon, Jen, and Jun to run errands for her. They were told to deliver the different sets of book consisting of science, maths and english to her desk. Jun proceeded to collect the pile of science books. Jon questioned his action.

Jun said with a cheeky smile,"See each of the science book is less than 0.5 cm thin and is light."

But to Jen, it was a matter of Jun trying to do less work than Jon and herself as the remaining books were much heavier. She felt that Jun could have helped to carry more books to share the workload fairly.

If you are given something to do with your friends. would you do the same as Jun?

Truth

The truth holds true only when it is useful. However, when another set of useful truth is discovered, the current one will be deemed invalid.
